One way to learn how to hit a straight golf ball is to assume a comfortable stance and posture to your ball, center the sweet spot of your club face about one half of an inch behind your ball, align your shoulders parallel with your target line and then–and only then–grip your club with either an overlapping, interlocking or baseball style of grip.
When you learn how to hit a straight golf ball by offsetting your club face in relation to the back of your ball in this manner, you must complete your grip by locking your right-hand lifeline squarely and securely on your left thumb.
Once you grip your club in this manner you must not thereafter unlock your right-hand lifeline from your left thumb.
Also, once you grip your club handle with the leading edge of your club face centered one-half of an inch behind your ball as the final step in your set up routine, you must not move your feet thereafter.
I also recommend that once your grip is completed, to move the sweet spot of your club face as near as possible to the back of your ball since this is the point you want the leading edge of your club face to bottom out during your down swing to hit straight golf shots.
It also provides a better visual appearance as to where the leading edge of your club face should bottom out during your down swing.
Some golfers routinely center the face of their clubs about one-half inch behind their golf ball during their set up proceedings. Through somewhat of trial and error, they have come to experience a relatively straight ball flight by using this offsetting golf method.
However, some golfers do not follow the above golf swing tips to the letter and mishit their ball when using this offsetting technique.
For example, some will occasionally unlock their right-hand lifeline from their left thumb after completing their grip, with the club face set off in this manner.
In doing so, they will change the bottom-out point of their swng and mishit the golf ball.
Others adjust their stance after completing their grip when using this technique. They likewise will change the bottom-out point of their down swing and hit an errand shot.
On the other hand, when they do follow the instructions to the letter, their swing will produce a relatively straight ball flight.
If you learn to use this offsetting method correctly, you too will be able to experience how to hit a straight golf ball.
You also will learn how to hit a straight golf ball like never before.
